Calcium Audio
I build algorithmic audio systems for Unity, Unreal, VST3, and the web.
Calcium Audio is the portfolio of Calum Vaughan: procedural game audio, RNBO-based instruments, browser audio experiments, plugin development, and strange audiovisual systems built with Max/MSP, gen~, JUCE, Unity, ChucK, and JavaScript.
- Procedural DSP
- Generative synthesis, feedback networks, delay systems, distortion, and sound engines that evolve through interaction.
- Game audio mechanics
- Playable systems where listening carries clues, tension, navigation, failure states, and progression.
- RNBO integration
- Taking Max patches into browser instruments, Unity projects, VST3 plugins, and standalone interactive tools.
- Unity audio systems
- First-person sound toys, procedural scene audio, live-coded ChucK environments, and reactive worlds.
- VST3 development
- RNBO C++ exports, JUCE interfaces, custom controls, release builds, and plugins with a clear visual identity.
- Audio tool design
- Practical utilities for auditioning, comparison, iteration, and faster creative decision-making.
- Web instruments
- Interactive browser audio with movement control, canvas visuals, React interfaces, and unstable audiovisual behaviour.
- Experimental workflow
- Fast prototypes, odd failures, and Codex-assisted development turned into reusable audio workflows.
